The National Weather Service is warning of the warmest stretch of the year so far across northern Illinois. Wednesday will be the hottest day, with peak heat index values reaching 95–102°F in many areas (including 100°+ in Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Ottawa, and others).

What to do:

• Stay hydrated
• Wear light clothing
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or AC
• Consider shifting outdoor activities to cooler parts of the day
